Kin Kamp

The Kin Kamp is prime lake front property given to Kinsmen Clubs of Northwest British Columbia in 1948 with the implied promise that they provide a place for children at the camp in perpetuity. Since that time thousands of volunteer hours and community dollars have supported four rebuilds, culminating in the most recent $800-thousand dollar project completed in 1995.

Currently, the Terrace Kinsmen has a multi-year lease with the Provincial Government to run the camp as a children’s summer camp facility. The facility is made up of modified ATCO trailers, with an older building that is being used for storage awaiting restoration. The facility has a 150-person capacity in the dorms, with camping and R/V facilities outside. The main section has a full kitchen and hall.

The Kinsmen Clubs of the Northwest continue to support the Kamp by capital improvements. In the past ten years, the Kinsmen and Kinnette clubs of Terrace have been the primary contributor of funds to this project, although other Kinsmen clubs of the northwest have contributed time, materials, and money.

Separate from its function as a lakefront facility, this is an important ongoing project for the unity of the clubs of the northwest. As a focal point for our efforts, it provides personal development and cross-community fellowship for our membership.
